I am drawn to visual storytelling as a way to create heightened visual and sensory experiences with an existential aura. My work is a personal exploration of the human condition, an attempt to expand our perception of beauty and what it means to be alive.
My goal is to always bring a genuine perspective to each project, developing a strong visual language through carefully crafted cinematography. I seek to collaborate with directors and creatives who share the same passion for storytelling through images.
My journey into cinematography began through travel and exploration. I was fortunate to work on projects in remote and inspiring locations around the world. These early experiences led me to collaborate on international film productions alongside award-winning cinematographers, whose work and mentorship became an invaluable source of inspiration and knowledge.
During one of those productions, while operating the camera in complete silence on set, I experienced a moment of profound connection between the camera and the powerful performance unfolding in front of me. In that instant, I realized that cinematography was the path I wanted to pursue.
I am currently based in the Canary Islands, working as a director of photography on films, commercials and creative projects, and always happy to travel wherever inspiring stories are waiting to be told.

Mario Oliva is a cinematographer and director of photography focused in narrative, commercial and documentary projects based in the Canary Islands and available worldwide, working with directors, creative agencies and production companies on narrative projects, advertising campaigns, branded content and fashion films.
With experience across narrative and commercial productions, Mario brings a versatile visual approach to each project, adapting the cinematography style to the needs of the story, the director’s vision and the production scale. His cinematography combines strong visual storytelling with refined lighting and cinematic atmosphere, helping brands translate creative ideas into compelling visual imagery.
Mario collaborates closely with directors and creative teams to develop the visual language of each project, adapting the cinematography approach to the concept, the brand identity and the narrative tone of the project. Mario’s work focuses on creating cinematic images that elevate the visual impact of the film, combining natural light, carefully designed lighting setups and expressive camera movement.
He works as Director of Photography for Narrative films, TV Series, TV commercials, digital advertising campaigns, music videos, fashion and lifestyle films, branded content, music videos and creative projects. Based in the Canary Islands and available worldwide, Mario regularly collaborates with international production companies.
